Delays in Customs Processing at the Danish Customs Agency

For some time now, we have unfortunately been experiencing significantly extended response times in the customs systems at the Danish Customs Agency. Processes that typically take 15–30 minutes now take up to three or four hours. This results in loaded trucks, ready to depart, being delayed for several hours before clearance is granted.

This situation has persisted since early October, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience these delays may cause you.

Dialogue to Restore Normal Processing Times
We have communicated to the Danish Customs Agency that this situation is untenable. Together with our colleagues at Danske Speditører, we have intensified our dialogue with the agency, urging them to prioritize finding a solution that restores efficient and normalized response times as quickly as possible.

Ongoing Challenges with Export DMS
In addition to the delays, errors and deficiencies in the new Export DMS system continue to pose challenges. These issues have also been addressed with the Danish Customs Agency, and we expect them to implement durable solutions soon to ensure that all declaration types can be properly validated in the system.

Looking Ahead to DMS Import in 2025
As we prepare for the rollout of DMS Import in 2025, we approach it with cautious optimism. We trust that the Danish Customs Agency will apply lessons learned from the recent Export DMS implementation and take into account the valuable feedback provided by the business community to ensure a smoother process moving forward.
