Sabbatical Story: Anette Bargmann

Anette Sabbatical trip to Australia

Deciding to Take a Longer break

As the People and Culture Business Partner at LEMAN’s Taulov office, my role involves everything from helping teams navigate challenges from a people and culture perspective to providing leadership training. I have been with LEMAN for four years, and this past November, I had the amazing opportunity to take a sabbatical.

After nearly 27 years with my previous company and a few years at LEMAN, I decided to seize this opportunity. It was a great chance to take a break, relax, and reflect without the pressure of having to do anything.

Instantly Switching to “Holiday Mode”

After years of hard work, I felt ready for a long break. November 2024 seemed like the ideal time to step away from work and embark on a three-week adventure to Australia, which I’d long dreamed about. I traveled solo but joined a group tour, and the minute the plane took off, I switched to “holiday mode.” The transition was quite quick, so I was able to relax and not think about my job.

A Journey of Exploration and Freedom

Throughout my trip, I embraced the freedom to explore new places, meet new people, and focus on myself. The sabbatical gave me the opportunity to recharge and do things I’d always wanted to but never had the time for.

Returning Refreshed and Ready for the Routine

I had some time off before and after my overseas trip, which allowed me to catch up on things at home, reconnect with friends I hadn’t seen in a while, and even take a few domestic trips. This time off helped me ease back into the rhythm of daily life in Denmark and slowly adapt to the 8-16 schedule again. I was looking forward to returning to the office because I felt energised, relaxed, and, most importantly, because I love my job. I was happy to be back.
