For some time now, LEMAN has been working with EcoTransIT World, the leading global software for calculating energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, air pollutants, and external costs for freight transport. The collaboration has quietly supported LEMAN’s sustainability efforts behind the scenes, and after a successful run we are now happy to talk about it more openly. It’s the kind of partnership that was never designed to make headlines, but one that has steadily shaped how LEMAN approaches sustainability internally.
A science-based approach to emissions data
EcoTransIT World’s methodology is built on a unique energy-based, bottom-up approach, and its calculations are certified by the Smart Freight Centre for ISO 14083 compliance and alignment with the GLEC Framework. Through this ongoing partnership, LEMAN has been able to give customers transparent, standardized emissions figures when assessing the environmental footprint of their shipments.
This matters because sustainability claims are only as good as the data behind them. Rather than relying on rough estimates, LEMAN has leaned on EcoTransIT World’s scientifically grounded calculations to make sure the figures shared with customers hold up to scrutiny. Over time, this has become a quiet but essential part of how LEMAN talks about its environmental impact: not as a marketing angle, but as an actual working tool.
“This has been a genuinely good collaboration, and one we’ve valued for a while. We wanted our customers and network to know where the numbers behind our sustainability conversations actually come from,” says Sandhya Menon, Group Sustainability Advisor at LEMAN. “It’s easy to talk about sustainability in broad terms, but our customers deserve something more concrete than that.”
A partnership worth highlighting
Rather than framing this as new news, LEMAN sees this as an opportunity to publicly recognize a relationship that has already proven its value internally. As sustainability reporting becomes more central to supply chain decisions, LEMAN and EcoTransIT World plan to keep building on the work they’ve already done together.
Looking ahead, we expect emissions transparency to only grow in importance, both for regulatory reasons and because customers are asking sharper questions about their supply chains. Having a reliable data partner already in place means LEMAN can meet that demand without starting from scratch: a quiet advantage built on a collaboration that’s simply been allowed to work.
