Sabbatical Story: Marianne Christiansen

Recharging and Rediscovering through LEMAN’s Sabbatical Program

As a Forwarding Agent Assistant in LEMAN’s Road Cargoline department, my work is often fast-paced and detail-oriented. In May 2024, I had the opportunity to take a well-deserved sabbatical, which I had been eagerly anticipating.

A Journey of Home Improvement and Relaxation

The first part of my sabbatical was spent at my parents’ wooden house on the North West Coast of Denmark, a place that holds sentimental value for me. The house needed a fresh coat of paint, which had been on my mind for a while.

I spent a wonderful week with my parents, painting, enjoying nature, and reconnecting with old childhood friends. This time allowed me to relax and recharge in familiar surroundings.

Next, my husband and I traveled to Spain, where we visited the remarkable Ronda, the stunning Alhambra, and the Nasrid Palace. We explored idyllic villages like Frigiliana, soaking in the local culture. We ended the trip by staying at my sister’s house, where we completely unwound and enjoyed the sun.

Returning with Renewed Energy

Upon our return, we attended the Jelling Music Festival for four days, where we had a great time with friends and family, enjoying music and good company.

The day before my sabbatical started was also my birthday, and I remember driving home from work with a feeling of gratitude and freedom. Although I didn’t take two full months off, my one-month sabbatical gave me the energy and excitement I needed to return to work, ready to make a difference and see my colleagues again.

I’m incredibly thankful to LEMAN for this opportunity, which provided me with the perfect balance of relaxation, adventure, and quality time with loved ones.
